STEFAN BOLLINGER APPOINTED AS CHAIR OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The London School of Architecture today announces that Stefan Bollinger has been appointed as Chair of the Board of Trustees. He replaces Crispin Kelly, who steps down in January 2024, having served as Chair and a Founding Trustee since 2014.

Stefan Bollinger has a lifelong passion for architecture and has enjoyed a distinguished business career in banking. A Swiss national, Stefan has been living in London for twenty years and is a partner at Goldman Sachs. With a strong record of supporting third sector organisations, Stefan currently serves as a trustee of The Royal Academy of Arts where he is also a member of the RA’s Architecture Advisory Group and Ethics Advisory Group. He is a trustee of the West London Zone, a charity addressing social mobility issues in London. Stefan Bollinger joins the Board of Trustees of The London School of Architecture with immediate effect as Chair-Elect, and will assume his role as Chair of the Board in January 2024.

Crispin Kelly, Chair of the Board of Trustees said:

The London School of Architecture is approaching its tenth year and has evolved from an ambitious idea into a leading voice for broadening access in architectural education. The school is underpinned by the Practice Network and has had support from both individuals and other charitable institutions, including the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation and The Zaha Hadid Foundation. Stefan brings considerable business acumen, experience, and strategic vision to the LSA. Under Neal Shasore and Stefan’s leadership, I am confident the LSA will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Stefan Bollinger, Chair-Elect and Trustee said:

I am delighted to have been selected by the Trustees to become the next Chair of the London School of Architecture. I would like to thank Crispin Kelly for all he has done over his long tenure and I look forward to working with Neal, his team, the Trustee Board and the LSA’s stakeholders, working together to take the school to the next level.

The LSA’s broad and diverse student body, its Practice Network, and a growing and evolving programme of courses and educational outreach all have a vital role to play in broadening access within architecture. My passion for architecture is in the role it plays in the city and wider society: in enabling more diverse voices and shaping a dynamic and inclusive built environment. The LSA was founded on these principles and it is exciting to be a part of this drive for change.

Dr Neal Shasore, CEO and Head of School, said:

“We thank Crispin profoundly for his stewardship of the school over the past ten years. His commitment to the LSA has been unwavering; his investment in our project immense. I am delighted that the Board has selected Stefan Bollinger as Crispin’s successor. I’m looking forward to working with him in the coming years as we continue to expand our range of accessible and innovative programmes, capitalise on the changes to architectural education, support diverse routes to practice, and pursue a just transition to a greener built environment in the face of climate crisis.”
