LSA GAINS RECOGNITION FROM RIBA AND ARB
The London School of Architecture’s two-year postgraduate Diploma in Designing Architecture is now fully recognised at Part 2 level by the Architects Registration Board and the Royal Institute of British Architects
The LSA was founded to provide a genuine alternative route into the profession of architecture, and has therefore always sought full professional recognition for its diploma programme. In the academic year 2016/17, the school achieved both Part 2 accreditation from the ARB and validation from the RIBA.
Reviewing the work of our first graduates in June 2017, the RIBA visiting board commended ‘the enthusiasm and engagement of trustees, practitioners and students that are part of the LSA’. It also praised the LSA for ‘the critical content and representation of the history of design methodologies module, and the sense of empowerment and independence that the students demonstrate and their considered view of the future of the profession’.
The visiting board was carried out under the RIBA procedures for validation and validation criteria for UK and international courses and examinations in architecture (published July 2011). The next RIBA visiting board will take place in 2022.
Earlier in 2017 the Architects Registration Board approved our Professional Diploma in Designing Architecture qualification from 12 May 2017 until 1 October 2020.
