LSA AND PURCELL ANNOUNCE NEW PARTNERSHIP

The London School of Architecture and Purcell are thrilled to announce a new partnership.

This collaboration marks an exciting opportunity for The LSA to connect our students with one of the UK’s leading architectural practices, offering them invaluable insights and guidance as they prepare for their future careers. Together, we aim to foster innovation and creativity while contributing to an inclusive and supportive professional community.

Through this partnership, LSA students will benefit from mentoring and volunteering opportunities, culminating in the placement of a Part II student with Purcell.

“The formal partnership between The London School of Architecture and Purcell is an exciting manifestation of a shared passion for architectural history, progressive conservation, and broadening access to heritage.

At a time when the relationship between climate and our built inheritance is being tested in new ways, such a union between education and practice is surely invaluable in developing planet-positive design which champions reuse over new construction, pioneers conservation-led processes, and creates sustainable places for everyone.

We at Purcell are thrilled to be part of the LSA’s network, and look forward to sharing the fruit of this collaboration over the coming years.”

—Kit Stiby Harris, Senior Architect at Purcell

Kit has been a teacher at the faculty and will resume teaching this year with a series of workshops. Last year, he was tutor to RIBA Silver Medal winner Ellie Harding. You can read more about the project here.

“Adaptive reuse, resilience, a deeper sense of place: these are the abiding concerns of cohort after cohort of our Part 2 students. We are all conservation architects now. For that reason, we’re thrilled to form a partnership with Purcell, among the leaders in their field. The practice’s impact on heritage buildings in London is profound, but it is their regional and national scope which makes the prospect of our engagement with them so exciting – particularly as we grow our post-qualification digital learning programme.”

— Dr Neal Shasore, CEO and Head of School

“We are delighted to partner with the London School of Architecture. This new generation of architects, designers, and built environment professionals is more attuned than ever to the importance of reusing and preserving our historic building stock. By integrating heritage-led design into their education, we are forging stronger connections between our existing built heritage and the future of design.”

— Liz Smith, Purcell Chairman
